ANCESTORS
Sometimes things just never get off the ground. I was in development on this project (not originally called 'Ancestors') and about halfway through the process it was dropped. Why? who knows. It happens in this industry. They didn't like my take on it, or they lost funding, or they had a different idea. It could be any number of reasons.
There is a long list of projects like this; could have been great, but never got off the launch pad.
Development sketches on paper, sequential pages digital

ELFQUEST SAMPLE
note: I've never liked that phrase 'fan art'. It smacks of amateurism. In school, and when I was breaking into the industry, those trying to break into the industry made samples. A sample is work by a professional showing how they would approach a given subject. It's similar to a test that one is asked to make as part of the job application process. As such, any time I draw a character that is not my own creation, it is either a commission or a sample. I do not make 'fan art'. Below is a sample I made for Elfquest many years ago. I did not get the job (it actually went to my buddy, the amazing Brandon McKinney), but I always liked how this came out.
